Cherishing the Past, Seeding the Future

Geneva Glen's Executive Director

To the Geneva Glen Family,

The Geneva Glen Board of Directors is proud to announce that after eight months of extensive work we have hired Casey Klein as the next Executive Director. This past year, the GG Board of Directors embarked down a road not taken for decades: to find new leadership for Geneva Glen. We spent countless hours ensuring transparency and thoroughness in finding a Director to whom Ken and Nancy could pass the torch after their 35 year legacy. We know that they cannot be replaced and that change can be difficult. We took the feedback, advice, and input from the camp family to establish a comprehensive process for hiring the next Director. We had many qualified applicants and our decision was not easy but, in the end, it focused on what was best for all of camp now and in the future. Casey brings not only a lifelong history at Geneva Glen, but an impeccable set of skills and experiences gained from a 28 year career at the YMCA. Casey has a wonderful track record as a leader, coach, and role model. His skills as a manager and a fundraiser have been honed through the YMCA's national training. His history with GG and outside of camp means he brings a new perspective and openness to innovative ideas, while respecting our traditions. We believe that his vision, leadership, and respect for the Glen will launch us to new heights as we look towards our 100th year. Please help us welcome Casey back to Geneva Glen with open arms. Stay tuned for additional news and events as this transition unfolds throughout the year. The board welcomes any questions you may have, please email us at

Below is a message and bio from Casey.

The Geneva Glen Board of Directors

Dear Camp Family: Many of you I have shared life experiences with at GG in the past, while others I have not yet met. But we all share a common bond through this wonderful place that changed us all!

Throughout my life I have been involved with 5 different camps across the country. While I gained friends and experiences at all of these camps, none of them have ever touched me like GG has. I am ecstatic but yet humbled to become the next Director for Geneva Glen. It is a dream job for me!

I believe that the traditions we all love at camp are the backbone of what makes GG what it is. Please trust that these traditions will remain solid as I follow in the footsteps of the Gilmores, Duvalls, and Atkinsons. Our camp has a rich history and bright future, and I am so grateful to continue being a part of this place that changed my life!

Warm regards, Casey Klein

for Casey J. Klein

Born in 1965 to Kelly Klein and Nancy Fisk after they met at Geneva Glen in the early 60's.

Grew up living in Dallas, Houston, and Niagara Falls. After my father died when I was 10, my family finally settled in Evergreen Colorado. While I attended Geneva Glen as a camper in the late 70's, my mother met Ken Atkinson, my counselor, and soon after they married. I continued to be involved at GG for 5 years as a camper, followed by working as a member of the Work Crew, a CIT, a Counselor, Head of Barn, Head of W.E., Program Director and Administrative Assistant. I literally grew up at Geneva Glen, and enjoyed every minute of it!

Graduated from Evergreen High School in 1984. Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1989. "Go Buffs!"

Married my wife Jennifer in 1993. I have three boys, Kelly age 22, Levi age 20, and Jackson age 18. All three boys are GG alumni, and Jennifer spent one week as a counselor for Myths and Magic while we were engaged. Of course my brothers, Chris & Chip Klein, and parents Ken and Nancy Atkinson have also had a little involvement with GG!

Camping has always been a part of my life. After working at Geneva Glen, I spent one summer building ropes courses, which included time as a counselor at a camp in Malibu California. More recently, I have administered two large camps in Dallas area: Camp Grady Spruce and Collin County Adventure Camp. This recent camp experience has been while serving as the VP of Operations for the YMCA in Dallas. I leave a 28 year career with the YMCA to return to Geneva Glen for the job of my dreams!

Most of my free time is spent with my family. In the past, I became an accomplished diaper changer, as well as excelling at horsey rides, story telling, and rough housing. With the kids now grown and in college, the activities have changed, but my time is still spent with them. When the opportunity presents itself, I also enjoy woodworking and tool shopping. I am an avid runner, and spend a lot of time mountain biking and hiking.

Trail Run

Come here to meet the GG horses and learn about the program at the camp barn.

Our summer program focuses on basic western horsemanship, teaching basic control so that campers can enjoy rides on our beautiful trails. Typically, 7-12 year old campers will spend a day in the arena learning skills and then alternate to a short trail ride to practice what they have learned. Younger kids will learn basic reining and control and how to use their “natural aids” while riding. For teenagers, we offer many different riding options from arena instruction to trail rides.
