MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Thorough knowledge of horsemanship and care
- Knowledge of children with horses
- Desire to work with children outdoors
- CPR and First-aid certifications
- Ability to relate to one's peer group
- Ability to teach basic horsemanship
- Ability to set up barn, routine for feeding, etc.
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision
- Enthusiasm, patience, sense of humor and self-control
- High school senior or older
RESPONSIBLE TO
- Head Wrangler / Equine Director / Administrative Director / Camp Directors

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
- To assist in running the horsemanship program in a safe, efficient manner.
- Proper feeding and care of horses
- Train wrangling staff and counseling staff in procedure and rules during staff orientation
- Follow and enforce safety regulations
- Follow all camping standards guidelines
- Teach basic horse skills to campers
- Assist in maintaining records of horse care, shots, shoes, feed, etc...
- Check equipment, horses daily for safety and in good condition
- Check barn area daily for safety
- Caring for horses on their time off - pasturing, feeding, running across
- Evaluate current season and make recommendations for following season
- These are not the only duties to be assigned. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties assigned as required
- Physical ability to ride a horse
- Physical ability to lift 50 lb. bag of grain, bale of hay
- Ability to handle tack and saddle horses
- Ability to supervise small children on horses
- Ability to react, act quickly in case of emergency
