    Head Cook (shift supervisor) / Food Service Manager / Camp Director
CAMP GOALS
    The Goal of Geneva Glen Camp is to provide experiences for children and youth that promote discovery of one's own dignity and worth; encourage respect for all races, creeds and backgrounds; stimulate love for and care of the natural world; develop commitments to enduring values; train youth as creative school and community leaders; and to empowering participators to live at their highest level and to enrich their home communities through what they have learned at Geneva Glen.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
  • Work together with kitchen staff
  • Participate in overall staff orientation as possible
  • Work with head cook to receive and store food stuffs and supplies
  • Function as general all round-cook for all meals and special events
  • Clean and prepare food service areas for use. Help close kitchen down for off season
  • Evaluate current season and make recommendations for following season
  • Follow all rules of local and state health regulations
  • These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ability to lift/unload food and supplies
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of food, supplies
  • Ability to interpret written menus and meal plans
Cooks are in control of all food service, dish crew and food preparation and serving.
Head Cook / Food Service Manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience as a cook or assistant cook
  • Training and experience in cooking for large groups
  • Ability to work well with others at camp. Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving and kitchen procedures
  • Advanced training in diet and nutrition or college degrees in nutrition.
  • Experience in kitchen management
  • Experience in personnel management

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
  • Train kitchen staff
  • Plan nutritionally balanced meals
  • Work with the Camp Health Care Manager (Nurse) to respond to special medically necessary dietary needs of participants (campers or staff)
  • Stock kitchen with all food and equipment throughout the season
  • Function as general all round-cook for all meals and special events as needed
  • Clean and prepare food service areas for use. Close kitchen down for off season
  • Evaluate current season and make recommendations for following season
  • These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required
