RESPONSIBLE TO
- Head Cook (shift supervisor) / Food Service Manager / Camp Director
- The Goal of Geneva Glen Camp is to provide experiences for children and youth that promote discovery of one's own dignity and worth; encourage respect for all races, creeds and backgrounds; stimulate love for and care of the natural world; develop commitments to enduring values; train youth as creative school and community leaders; and to empowering participators to live at their highest level and to enrich their home communities through what they have learned at Geneva Glen.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
- Work together with kitchen staff
- Participate in overall staff orientation as possible
- Work with head cook to receive and store food stuffs and supplies
- Function as general all round-cook for all meals and special events
- Clean and prepare food service areas for use. Help close kitchen down for off season
- Evaluate current season and make recommendations for following season
- Follow all rules of local and state health regulations
- These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required
- Ability to lift/unload food and supplies
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
- Maintain appropriate inventory of food, supplies
- Ability to interpret written menus and meal plans
Head Cook / Food Service Manager MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience as a cook or assistant cook
- Training and experience in cooking for large groups
- Ability to work well with others at camp. Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving and kitchen procedures
- Advanced training in diet and nutrition or college degrees in nutrition.
- Experience in kitchen management
- Experience in personnel management

- Work with the Camp Health Care Manager (Nurse) to respond to special medically necessary dietary needs of participants (campers or staff)
- Stock kitchen with all food and equipment throughout the season
- Function as general all round-cook for all meals and special events as needed
