American Heritage
Dates: June 16 - June 29, 2024
Tuition: TBD
Ages: entering 3rd-11th grade
Our two-week sessions for campers begins with American Heritage. At this session, we explore the rich history of the early American West and the historical people and groups who inhabited the region. Middler campers (3rd through 6th grade) can earn skill tokens by demonstrating proficiencies in our different activity areas. Senior campers (7th through 11th grade) have the choice to work on skill tracks such as the Buckskinner (Riflery, Archery, Survival Skills), Headliner (Drama and Performance), Naturalist (Alchemy, Preservation, Survival), Range Rider (Horseback Riding, Rifles, Survival), and/or Trailblazer (Ropes and Survival). The session concludes with a day-long "Rendezvous," evoking a frontier atmosphere. Events begin with a flapjack-eating contest and continue with games, fire-building, prospecting, bartering, and tall-tales. The night ends with the recognition of a camper and staff member with the Spirit of America award. The focus of this session is learning how to build and nurture a community. American Heritage is all about outdoor fun in an environment that helps cultivate self-esteem. It's an excellent choice for first-time campers.
